To support infrastructure development for the ComEd – CyrusOne Data Center, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services were performed along a 3-mile route. The goal was to accurately locate and mark conductive underground utility lines prior to construction. Using advanced geophysical tools—including electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar, acoustic pipe locators, and magnetic locators—utilities were identified and marked at regular intervals and directional changes. The collected data was compiled into a detailed AutoCAD base map and delivered to the client for design and planning use.

Scope of Services

• • Used electromagnetic (EM) prospecting to detect underground electric lines
  • Identified approximate horizontal and vertical positioning of utilities
    Surveyed all utility markings using standard survey methods
  • Tied utility locations into the Illinois State Plane Coordinate System and NAVD ’88 vertical datum
  • Delivered detailed AutoCAD base map showing underground lines, manholes (MHs), and related structures
  • Provided digital deliverables in both AutoCAD and PDF formats
