Geotechnical Engineering

Min is a Geotechnical Engineer for our Geotechnical Group in Schaumburg, IL.  She specializes in slope stability, soil-structure interaction, foundation design, seismic hazard and risk analysis, landslide investigation and mitigation, soil laboratory testing and numerical analysis. Not only does Min design and oversee laboratory testing programs, she also prepares calculations, analysis and reports for geotechnical engineering projects and manages construction quality control and assurance projects. One of the many tasks Min is proud of is the 3 years she worked as a quality control engineer overseeing soil laboratory testing, assurance of requirements for licensing agencies and recommending laboratory facility improvements to reduce inefficiencies and increase quality.

Min received her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.  She then attained her Doctor of Philosophy in Geotechnical Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology in Hong Kong, China. After a decade of working in the academic field, Min decided to move into the consulting arena.  “I decided to make the change from academia to business consulting because I wanted to stand at the frontier of my field, learn and grow. “, said Min.  She also serves as a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Beyond working at GSG, Min and her husband Larry, are the proud parents of 2 children.  When Min is out of the office, she can be found in the stands at her children’s baseball games or gymnastic meets.  She also enjoys relaxing with a good book.
