2010 Press Releases
December 16, 2010 – GSG has been selected to conduct microbial surveys in the pharmacy of a well-known Chicago hospital. The testing includes sampling for airborne and surface microorganisms in the areas where drugs are handled and stored for sensitive, immunodeficient patients. Initial sampling will be conducted to determine background levels of bacteria in the pharmacy area with subsequent periodic monitoring. We understand the significance of “hospital acquired infection” and are continuing our efforts to support medical facilities in combating this growing problem in many health care institutions.
December 10, 2010 – GSG has been selected to perform a study to determine indoor exposure levels of methacrylate in the dental labs at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. Poly(methyl methacrylate) is extensively used in the production of dentures and a large majority of white dental filling materials (i.e. composites) have PMMA as their main organic component. As part of the study designed by GSG, samples are being collected at various locations in the facility and analyzed per National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 2537 at the AIHA accredited laboratory. GSG is proud to support the health and well-being of our military veterans as well as their caregivers.
October 5, 2010 – GSG has been selected to provide LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Baseline IAQ Testing for a newly constructed manufacturing building in West Chicago, Illinois. The testing will involve sampling of selected air quality parameters including Formaldehyde, Carbon Monoxide, Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs), Airborne Particulates (PM10), and 4-Phenylcyclohexene. Airborne levels of these parameters below established criteria ensure compliance and eligibility for LEED credits. GSG is proud of our ability to support LEED design and construction projects.
August 15, 2010 – GSG has completed supplemental site investigations and reporting for the Honore Urban Agriculture Site in the City of Chicago. Our Comprehensive Site Investigation Report (CSIR) and Remedial Action Plan (RAP) has been submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for review and approval. Remedial corrective actions are planned to commence in the Spring 2011. Once complete, the approximate 0.84 acre site will be suitable for the safe cultivation of produce aiding in the redevelopment of the West Englewood neighborhood.
